After not being a faithful blogger....

Keeping this thing up to date poses to be more of a challenge than I thought! Well since I haven't done any updating.. I am the current Miss Rodeo KSU 2010!!!!

The coronation took place Feb. 24th and it was a very exciting night!
After the coronation I was faced with the challenge of designing my own chaps! Thanks to Randy, at Circle R Chaps, they look amaizing!

Ooops! I forgot to write..

Sorry about the missing blogs.. The pageant went well. My favorite part was the interview and my least favorite was the speech! It was a great experience and I overall had a great time! The judges were nice but one had a displeased look on her face to whole time! I hope that everything went in my favor.

We now have to wait three weeks to find out who won.. I feel like its going to take forever! This weekend is the kiddie rodeo at the mall.. so that will keep me occupied for an afternoon as well as school work. I have plenty of homework!

3 Days!

After finding out that the pageant has been moved back an hour I'm feeling a little relieved. I also had the opportunity to see my competition ride the horsemanship pattern. I still have a lot of studying to do and I still have to memorize the key aspects of my speech. Tonight is the photogenic part of the pageant. I will wear my horsemanship outfit and I will post a picture maybe later tonight. Well back to studying! :)

Interview

More info from past queens... Its all so much to take in! I'm not sure I can remember all of it!

PRCA info
NIRA info
WNFR info
rodeo terms
Current events
KSU history
Horse anatomy

What to do in an interview:

-introduce yourself
-shake hands with all of the judges
-ask if its proper to sit down
-sit on the edge of the seat with legs crossed at the ankles
-fold hands in lap
-DO NOT LEAN ON THE TABLE!!! (if there is one)
-Make the most eye contact with the judge asking the question but periodically look at the others as well
- Thank the judges for their time and for supporting your event

ALWAYS SMILE AND NEVER MAKE EXCUSES FOR NOT KNOWING THE ANSWER TO A QUESTION!

(These are the words of MRKS '09)

Monday- 4 days left

As a Junior at KSU I have had many goals for my future. This past summer I took a break from classes and broke a three yr old gelding. (Who is pictured above.) I planned on turning him into a barrel racer but I didn't have a whole year just to teach him the techniques. So when I discovered that my schools Rodeo Club had a Queen I decided that competing in the pageant would be my new goal. My horse, Buzz, would make a great queen horse. So I was ready; I then took on the task of buying/ borrowing clothes. If you dont know anything about rodeo pageant wear let me tell you... it's different. Its solid color outfits, lots of rhinestones, and most importantly a big smile! Along with the outfits being brightly colored they can be VERY expensive. I am very grateful to know Miss Rodeo Kansas 2009 and that we are about the same size.

This is the first of my blogs on my efforts to become a rodeo queen. I have been studying and preparing for months now and my time left is becoming minimal. I have decided to record my last days. The pageant will be held on Saturday Jan. 30,2010 and then I will have to wait three weeks to find out the outcome. The new queen will be crowned on Feb. 20, 2010.

The pageant will consist of:

Horsemanship
Photogenics
Speech
Interview
Modeling
Written test
